RAMPING UP RHETORIC Regarding Abortion: How prevalent is Rape? The CDC reports data compiled by the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey. They collect their data via random telephone interviews. The means of collecting and analyzing the data changed in 2016, therefore comparisons are useless according to NIPSV. Because people were not too keen on providing this information over the phone to a stranger, NIPSV began offering compensation. The last survey conducted was 2016 – 2017 and included the participation of 15,000 women and 12,000 men. While lower income was prevalent among the respondents, NIPSV decided not to weight this discrepancy in their tallies. Results: 1 in 4 women have been raped or attempted – 1 in 26 men have been raped or attempted.
