"According to an analysis, the U.S. needs 400,000 new engineers every year. They say one-third of engineering jobs go unfilled and the trend will continue at least through 2030. The U.S. is not the only country facing an engineering shortage, and the report cited Japan and Germany as having similar problems."

DEI was a liberal initiative to force businesses to NOT hire whites. If a business did not meet the demand, they would be fined, sued, and lose. DEI is being stripped as I write. When constructing a narrative there are a multitude of facets and factors to research. Targeting Indians is simply another means of creating 'ranters'.

IF the VISA programs are committing fraud - attack the program not a country! The US government has the Control. Not India. Not Indians. Indians are crossing into America illegally at the Canadian and Mexican border - mostly Canadian. Close the borders. Those are the Indians seeking lower quality jobs! Not the H1B's. They can apply for a B-1 VISA - 675,000 annual openings.

There are SEVEN different VISA programs!

Many years ago, when foreign workers on visas came to the US (and the UK) they were brought in to help with the mountain of work. And then for some reason, lots of local IT workers were laid off for outsourcing overseas - often after training their replacements. Lots of foreign workers (on visa programs) continued to arrive competing for the fewer local IT jobs allegedly for a lower salary. I myself noticed that as more visa workers arrived, the salaries being offered started to go down over the years.

Perhaps both camps can be accommodated by having a system where a local hire is attempted before a visa hire is allowed. And any visa hire has to be paid the same rate as a local hire would be expected to earn. This would help local qualified candidates get a shot at being hired and by paying probably higher salaries to visa workers than now, it might reduce the thought that jobs are being given to foreign visa hires to save money.

Outsourcing is a completely different topic that Trump addressed in his first go around. It was primarily ‘help centers’ - which became a huge joke! Yes salaries have come down in certain sectors - while minimum wage continues to go up putting small businesses and even medium sized retailers out of business! The books are cooked - but by whom!

Well I was in IT, and I helped interview and set up an outsourcing post for a financial company several decades ago. It was pure IT development, not a help desk or sales. I only mentioned it as I believe it was the starting point for when the cheaper resources from visa workers became the 'management by MBA' go to for improving the bottom line. And it still is, regardless of the BS that Musk spouts.

I noticed that Jimmy Dore covered the H1B/Musk/Vivek/X community 'discussions' a few days ago. I found it interesting, but then I tend to agree with Dore a lot, so I am biased. LOL.

Not sure about Dore - but a number of people are posting about the egregious numbers without realizing there are 7 distinct VISAs each with their own rules and quotas. Many are posting this as though they are ALL HB-1. Just an FYI

A. I don’t exaggerate. I spoke with numerous people. Please don’t make unfounded assumptions B. I’m sure agencies are corrupted that is a given. C. You fail to address the problem at all as in do nothing to secure the talent necessary to grow technology and engineering competitive companies. D. Education means ‘re-education’ which takes time which leaves gaps and holes. Not much different than telling the people of WNC to wait another few years and we’ll get back to you. If you have solutions great! Share them. But commenting on my post in one giant rant serves no one. Nothing. When you are done complaining try to think of solutions to which we all can debate maturely

Shocking: the abuse of H1B is much worse than I thought.

You are exaggerating. No one said hire every American worker. Dont leave qualified American workers with no interview at all. And these programs are completely corrupt. They’re hiring workers who aren’t even qualified to have fake degrees and then they send the work back to India to get someone else to do it and there are companies who run these corrupt programs. They are bringing people in and training them. Why can’t they train an American worker? They’re just doing this to break any possibility of a union and to keep wages low and they treat them like serfs. We have just been through DEI and we need to regain some balance before we move forward. In our education system as well. Americans are competing against foreigners to get into colleges where their full tuition is paid for by their government. Then they get into a job and they have been disadvantaged with DEI hiring practices. You can’t ignore all that.

These graphs represent ALL visa programs! There are 7 - all with different criteria. False information does nothing positive. Yes there are abuses. It’s government - what do you expect. Showing layoffs during CoVid? Really? That’s helpful in the analysis - NOT! Barstool thinking belongs to AOC, does not serve any purpose or solution.
